I've been on a "pimp my diecasts" binge lately so I decided to drag this Testor metal-body kit out of the pile and slap it together. It's not a great kit but the '68 Chevelle isn't my favorite car, and the whole kit cost less than the Modelhaus '68 conversion for the AMT '69 Chevelle kit. (And I think I bought it with a 50% off coupon, too, making it dirt cheap.)
Not wild about the color but I'm not in the mood to paint, and at least it's smooth and shiny and no casting marks evident. But there is something definitely wrong with the shape of the roof. I THINK the problem is that the rear quarter windows are too small and not shaped correctly. I found a good profile photo on the net, sized it to match the body, and printed it out--gonna use that to make templates for the window shapes and then file the body to match. The black paint will be easy to touch up--"Black is black."
Pic below shows the out-of the box-shape. Does it look "off" to you, too?
I realize by posting WIP photos I am either encouraging myself to actually complete this project (for a change) OR dooming it to Never-Completed Limbo. It'll be interesting to see which way it goes.
